2012 Toyota Prius V Hybrid Car

Still a Prius, but with more cargo space and more passenger room.

The 2012 Toyota Prius V will offer a larger body, offering more cargo and passenger space. Just as good as a Prius but with more space than the conventional Prius.

Cons: Lack of a third row of seating.

Latest on the Prius V?

Updated 2/20/2012

While the larger Toyota Prius V launch was delayed due to the supply problems caused by the earthquake/tsunami this Spring in Japan, the Prius V is now available, and it's a best value according to Intellichoice. Likewise, Kipplingers calls the V hybrid the best new utility vehicle.

Why the Prius V?

What's not to love about the Toyota Prius?

According to Intellichoice the Prius is the best value amongst all passenger vehicles. Likewise, the Prius has consistently been noted as a great buy by Consumer Reports, JD Power and Kiplinger as well.

Sure, the Prius might not be the most exciting looking vehicle on the road today, nor does it provide the most exhilerating driving experience.

But, when it comes to getting from point A to point B, the Prius does it safely, cost-effectively and more fuel efficiently than most other vehicles, if not all other vehicles.

And, while the Prius isn't a huge car, it's size is deceiving, offering far more cabin space than seems possible in such a small body. Additionally, it's wonderful hatchback, combined with back seats that fold down flat, make the Prius an incredibly versatile vehicle.

Of course, if you constantly have 4 or 5 passengers in your Prius, you can't really fold down the seats, can you - making the Prius a little less versatile as family vehicle.

No worries. The Prius V, or the more versatile Prius, offers even more cabin room for both passengers, and especially for cargo room. In fact, cargo space is the Prius V has been increased by 60 percent compared to the current Prius.

60 percent more cargo room?

What family couldn't use that in their passenger vehicle?

Sure, maybe a third row of seating would have been a nice addition, but 60 percent more cargo room?

Now your Prius can replace your SUV as your Home Depot car in most instances, all while achieving as much as 40 mpg or more, far better than any SUV or minivan.

If you're in the market for a cost-effective, versatile family vehicle with outstanding fuel economy, the Prius V is the perfect fit.

The Prius V is now available at many Toyota dealerships and will roll out across the country through November.
