Mercedes rolled out a number of hybrid vehicles in 2010, and one of the first was the 2010
Mercedes Benz ML450 hybrid vehicle, which was available for lease beginning November 16 as either a 36 month or 60 month lease.
For 36 months, the monthly cost will be $659. For the 60 month lease, the cost will be $549.
Unfortunately, the ML 450 hybrid will not be available for sale.
Under the hood, the ML450
hybrid
will be very similar to Mercedes' mild hybrid, the S400
hybrid, however, the Mercedes Benz ML450 hybrid will
be a full hybrid vehicle. Like the S400, the ML450 hybrid
vehicle will also offer a 3.5-liter V-6, but the ML450 hybrid will be combined with dual mode
hybrid technology, rather than the hybrid technology of
the S400. That means rather than 295 hp, the ML450 335 total hp thanks to the larger battery pack.
Likewise, unlike the S400
hybrid, the Mercedes 450 hybrid will
be able to function on pure electric power at lower
speeds. Consequently, this hybrid crossover can run on pure electric power up to 34 mph.
According to the EPA, the ML 450 hybrid will be rated at 21 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
Mercedes is also
exploring the use of ultracapacitors in its hybrid
vehicles, but it has not been stated whether the Mercedes
Benz ML450 hybrid will utilize this technology.
Stay tuned for more
information on the Mercedes Benz ML450 hybrid vehicle.
