Lexus HS 250h Hybrid Car
What? A 35 mpg luxury vehicle?
That's what Lexus is offering in the recently released HS 250h hybrid vehicle.
So can a luxury hybrid offer some zip? Of course, it can, Toyota already proved that with the Lexus RX 400h, now the 450h.
Certainly that's not why we buy such vehicles. Still, you have to the power - the muscle - to stand up on the freeway when a little extra power is needed. And, between the 2.4 engine and the battery, the Lexus HS 250h hybrid provides a total of 187 horsepower.
Still, whether you need power or fuel economy, the choice is up to you using the different driving modes offered by the HS.
EV mode provides pure battery-powered driving for short distances at low speeds. ECO mode helps increase fuel efficiency by managing throttle activity and AC demands. Power mode increases accleration response.
And, of course, there is an ECO Mode indicator that helps monitor the efficiency of your driving style.
Just in case, you're thinking it. The HS 250 isn't just a souped up Prius with some extra ammenities. With double-wishbone rear suspension, maneuverability and control are far more sporty than the Prius. Likewise, the Electronic Power Steering and MacPherson strut front suspension that delivers quick, responsive steering.
And, of course, there is the luxury. Everything a luxury vehicle should have, plus a ton of the latest high tech features and conveniences loved by Lexus owners.
Moreover, full of recyled materials and innovative, ecological plastics, the HS 250 comes as close as possible to letting consumers have their cake and eat it as well.
