Only
$1900 more than a conventional Fit, but not yet Fit for the US
Cheap hybrid cars. That's been Honda's recent hybrid
mantra, and the mantra was to be taken to a new level
when the Fit hybrid launched in 2010. Unfortunately, thus far the Fit hybrid has been deemed un-Fit for the US market.
Perhaps that's because Honda is going to bring an electric version of the Fit to the US. Yet, I'd say that's all the more reason to bring a Fit hybrid to the US. Why not gas, hybrid and electric versions of the Fit and let the consumers decide?
Anyway, according to the most current reports coming out of Honda, the Honda Fit hybrid, much like the rest of Honda's new hybrid vehicles will cost about $1900 more than its conventional version. Such a price should still keep the Fit hybrid price a good bit under the Insight hybrid.
Regardless, the Fit hybrid will utilize the Integrated Motor Assist powertrain, and it will probably pair a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, much like the rest of Honda's hybrid vehicles.
Unfortunately, it isn't very clear when the new Fit hybrid vehicle will go on sale here in America.
According to a few recent reports, however, it has been suggested that the Honda Fit will make it to the US when the Fit platform is updated. Consequently, by 2013 or 2014 there is a good chance the Fit hybrid will make its way to the US, and that's a good thing because according to most reviews, the Fit hybrid is the best Honda hybrid so far.
