The
first 'urbanhybrid' from Citreon?
The C5 Airspace Concept
isn't the first foray into hybrid vehicle by Citreon, but
it might just be the first 'UrbanHybrid' from Citreon.
With a carbon-fibre,
automatically folding roof, the C5 hybrid epitomizes
cool-hybrid.
Still, what's behind the
hybrid technology of the Airspace Concept?
According to Gizmag.com,
the 'UrbanHybrid" system "includes a reversible
alternator-starter and super capacitors and allows onboard
equipment, such as the air conditioning or audio system,
to be powered by energy recovered during braking and
deceleration, while engine torque can be temporarily
boosted when required."
In addition, the C5
UrbanHybrid can turn off the engine when the vehicle isn't
moving, much like other hybrid vehicles.
Additionally, Citreon is
hoping to make the the C5 a biodiesel vehicle.
Still, such concepts are
great, but the real question remains: How serious is
Citreon about such a vehicle?
