Chrysler took a page out of GM's playbook this year at at NAIAS with a bunch of new hybrid electric vehicles, or as GM calls them, range-extended vehicles.
The Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept "celebrates the romance of automobile travel embodied in a dour-door, four passenger, distinctly American automobile of spirited design."
The ecoVoyager is designed to achieve about 40 miles of electricity using a lithium-powered, 200 kw electric motor that also utilizes regenerative breaking to help keep the battery charged. Delivering 268 horsepower, the ecoVoyager will accelerate from 0 to 60 in a bout 8 seconds according to Chrysler.
For trips longer than 40 miles, the ecoVoyager takes advantage of a small hydrogen-powered fuel cell that extends the vehicles range to about 300 miles.
