Solution?
The 2012 GMC
Sierra hybrid (and its brother the Chevy Silverado hybrid).
As a full-sized hybrid pickup truck, the Sierra hybrid
offers 6,100 pounds of towing capacity while achieving about 21
mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. While that's only
about a 25 percent improvement overall over the
non-hybrid Sierra, it's almost a 50 percent improvement in city fuel economy.
Thus, if your business is located in an urban environment, full of congestion and stop-and-go traffic, the Sierra hybrid pickup truck could be a major long term investment in your business.
Plus, imagine the marketing opportunities. Green is now an integral piece of your business, and that could be the path to some extra green in your wallet.
How does the Sierra hybrid do it?
The
Sierra hybrid pickup truck comes equipped with
a 300-Volt NiMH battery pack set upon an aluminum-block 6.0
liter pushrod V8. The transmission utilizes 4 fixed gear
ratios with two 60-kilowatt electric motors with
planetary gearsets - providing full sized pickup truck
performance and hybrid fuel economy.
Now, that's full-sized hybrid
power!
To
smooth out the ride of the Sierra hybrid, which was
affected by the extra weight of the battery on the
chassis, GM has added liquid filled cab mounts that help
reduce cab vibration.
Additionally, GM added a few extra
features to the Sierra hybrid pickup truck to help
increase fuel economy, such as Bridgestone low rolling,
all-season resistance tires, and a cover for the cargo
bed to reduce aerodynamic drag.
That's
the Sierra hybrid pickup truck, a real truck with
hybrid fuel economy. Also, check out the Chevy
Silverado hybrid.
