I HAVE A
2005 PRIUS. ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 75 MPH, WITH THE AIR
OFF, I GET 54.SOMETHING. IN TOWN I GET 46-47 MPG. THE
CAR HAS 17000 MILES ON IT AND
USES MOBIL 1 SYNTHETIC OIL. CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE IT A PLUG
IN HYBRID.
THE WIFE
HAS A 2005 CIVIC HYBRID,7000 MILES GETS 39 IN THE CITY
41-43 ON THE ROAD.
PUTTING IN A PHOTOVOLTIC SYSTEM TO POWER THE HOUSE ALSO
WANT TO USE IT WHEN I CONVERT THE PRIUS TO A PLUG IN
HYBRID.

My 2004
Prius gets an average of 46.7 mpg!

On Prius
wife is getting 48mpg in city, no idea on open road, we
don't go any place.
On Lexus RX400h, my car, with 91 octane, 24.6 in city,
using 87
octane 21.9 in city. Almost happy with Lexus, very
pleased with Prius.

We drive Toyota
Prius's. Mine is a 2001, hers is 2003. During the
summer and winter when the AC or Heat is running I
average 40mpg, she does a little better, 43mpg. In the
spring and fall when we don't use AC or heat much our
averages are better 45-50mpg. We work 2 jobs each. One
job for both of us is 25 miles away, the other is 75
miles away. The closer jobs are about 45 mph range.
The further jobs are 65 mph range, with which we get
lower mpgs.
Happy Holidays,
B. B. & J. J.
I have a
2004 (Jan) Prius 30,000mi. I admit I am a little lead
footed. My worst mileage for a tank was last winter
38MPG. The best was last spring 54MPG. Mostly though
its 40 to 45 in winter, 48 to 52 in spring, summer &
fall.

Hello,
The gas mileage for our 2004 TOYOTA full loaded prius
from the display screen is about 44 miles/gal city
mileage. This is an interesting question for us because
I used to calculate gas mileage when I am at
the pump. With the display of TOYOTA, I simply take
down the number it gives us.
Regards,
I
have a 2004 Prius, which was bought in November of
2003. I believe it to have been the first Prius
on the road in our county. It has made mostly
area trips, but did take us to the Outer Banks of NC
during the summer of 2004, and to Iowa in the spring
of 2005. During the trip home from NC we did
reach 60mph for a short time. Otherwise,
we average about 46-48 mph in the colder weather and
when using AC. During the rest of the year -
spring and fall- we average about 49-50 mph.
I absolutely love this car. It is fun to drive,
has plenty of pep, and is very comfortable. We
have had no problems with it, except for the original
tires, which were probably cheap. I replaced them
after about 25,000 miles. We have had folks
follow us home to ask about the car! Now,
however, there are several others in our area.

My wife and I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth TX area,
and took delivery on a new Prius just after
Thanksgiving. We were fortunate that our dealer,
Freeman Toyota of Hurst does not charge an extra
"Delivery Fee." This is the finest
automobile that we have ever driven. Our trade in, a
Mercury Grand Marquis was giving us 15 mpg over all,
and had a fatal flaw called a compositie (plastic)intake
manifold that cracked, causing coolant to leak, and
the engine to run hot--while we scurried to add
coolant. The current class action lawsuit against this
problem does not cover our 1997 model. For this
reason, we chose not to consider this manufacturer's
version of a hybrid.
The Prius is awesome. The quality that Toyota puts
into the car would compare most favorably with the
Lexus. We joke that it's more Lexus than Toyota. Our
miles per gallon is an obvious benefit, and this fuel
efficient vehicle is our personal statement against
foreign oil dependency. We support the technology that
Toyota has made available in the Prius, and look
forward to more consumers considering both the
ecological and financial benefits. Yesterday, a big
butt SUV cut me off, and all but took our front end
off as he powered by us. I laughed. We had just filled
our gas tank, and took a whopping 8 gallons of fuel in
the 11.9 galloon gas tank--that was for two weeks
driving. The macho SUV probably spends $40 twice each
week. Hmmm. Maybe he owns a lot of Exon-Mobil
stock--how about those billion dollar quarterly
profits. Thanks Toyota, and come on Ethanol!

I drive
locally, 4-6 50 mile roundtrips a week and 3-5 times a
year longer
trips, putting on about 18,000 miles a year. My
2004 Prius averages 44 to
47 mpg.
My 2004
Prius gets 44 mpg fairly consistently, figured by
calculator and
actual gas consumed not display mileage. It
will vary 2 - 3 mpg if the
accelerator is used aggressively.

My husband
and I bought a Prius in June, 2005. Most of the
driving has been in the city. The car is averaging
45 mpg. I just bought a 2005 Accord Hybrid.
I have only driven in the city so far and am averaging
24 mpg.
I drive a 2004 Prius in
the snowy state of Maine. The past two winters my tires
were in pretty good shape, and the Prius handled fine in
snow. It handles the snow a lot like any other front
wheel drive sedan would. However, I have only 27000
miles on the car, and the tires are already getting
pretty bald.
This is my only complaint about the car so far. It gets
about 50 mpg in the winter and 60mpg in the summer on my
commute (which is mostly moderate speed, but long enough
for the car to really warm up).

We were averaging 52
mpg over the summer and through the fall in our 2005
Prius. When colder weather arrived, we fell into the
high 40's. I have experienced that the display
overestimates mileage by about 3-5%. I calculate every
tankful, and this is pretty consistent. Also, I
encourage all owners to learn about pulse and glide
driving. You can't do it all the time as in this
experiment: http://origin.www.toyota.com/

but the concepts can help your mileage. I've done a
couple of 60+mpg legs in the last couple of weeks, and
look forward to becoming more practiced at it, esp. as
warmer weather returns!

We own a 2005 Toyota
Prius purchased March 2005. The mileage now is
13,300
miles we average 50 miles per gal both on the hwy and
town driving. We live
in the mountains of Colorado, so most of our driving is
mountain highway
driving.

I get around 50
mpg on the road traveling 60 to 66 mph, and average
around 42 mpg in the city. I'm pleased with the results.

I would like some
information about the tires on the 2002 Toyota Prius. I
bought the car for my mom a few months ago and she
replaced the original tires (17,000miles)as she was told
they were won and incorrect. Now, her mechanic is saying
that there are only a few tires built for the Prius and
they wear out very quickly. Any help on the tires being
used on your Prius and experience with wear would be
appreciated.

My wife drives our 2005
package 5 Prius 35-40 miles each day in city/rural
traffic. The computer shows an average of 47-53 mpg, while
fill-ups compute at 43-51 mpg (some differences may be
accoutable to tempereature and atmospheric pressure at the
time of fill). Considering my wife's LEAD FOOT, I believe
the car is performing amazingly well. Driving it in town,
I have achieved computer readings of 57 mpg, and I believe
it could easily exceed 60 mpg in heavy stop-and-go
conditions.
Are you kiddin' me? I have never had a car -- I have been
driving since 1960 -- that came anywhere as close to its
EPA ratings as the Prius!
If you are getting 43 mpg at 70 and are unhappy, trade the
Prius and see if 30 mpg feels better in a conventional
car!
mac_guy
After 22,000 miles and
two and a half years on my 2004 Prius I've been averaging
48 MPG.
About 50% of my mileage is trips of 5 miles or less and
the rest are trips of 25 miles or more. I do great on the
longer trips, obviously, usually about 55 MPG and the
shorter ones are about 45 MPG.
Keeping the tires fully inflated makes a huge difference,
as does making sure the oil isn't overfilled. Sometimes I
get a "bad" tank of gas a notice that with
identical driving conditions the mileage is suddenly off
by about 5%.

I am very happy with my 2006
Prius!

After 2 years and 18,000
event free miles, we're getting an honest 45-51 mpg and
love the car. It's got plenty of pickup, is great for
short and medium trips, and has been a totally delightful
auto to own.

i have a prius in london
especially useful in c-charge zone! i average 35mpg with
me at the wheel in the city and my lead-footed wife
averages 28mpg!
love that car!

We have an '05 Prius which we truly love. I especially enjoy passing all those obscene hummers at the gas stations! I average 47-50 mpg in town, 52-55 on the highway with the AC on and averaging about 60 mph. My wife only gets 38-42 in town. I keep telling her to get her foot out of the firewall, but to no avail!
