Today,
Travelers Insurance announced that it will give a 10%
discount to hybrid drivers. Do you
think hybrids get too many breaks?
Discounts on insurance, tax
credits for hybrid cars, HOV lane access in some
states, and even free parking in some cities.
Do hybrid
vehicles receive too many perks?
I say no. I say gas-guzzlers get too many breaks. If the
real costs of gasoline hit consumers directly at the pump,
rather than being hidden in the our multi-trillion dollar
deficit, then most Americans wouldn't be able to afford to
gas-guzzle.
In addition to the political and military costs of cheap
gas, there are also the ramifications of pollution on the
environment and on human health. As Katrina recently
demonstrated, the potential costs of pollution could be
only just emerging.
