Buying a new or used hybrid vehicle on the Internet

Personally, I believe the Ford Escape hybrid is the best Ford Escape, except for the price. I'd be willing to pay the base price of $27,400 for this marvelous SUV, but the dealer add-ons are killing me.

Dealers are often adding $6000.00 to the price of the Escape hybrid, and a huge chunk of that price is simply a delivery fee. Dealer add-ons also add significantly to the price of the Toyota Prius.

There are deals to be had out there on your next hybrid purchase, but your location will be essential. If you monitor eBay, you can find MSRP-priced hybrids, but you must be ready to act immediately.

Many of the sellers on eBay are dealers selling new hybrids. If you are also in the market for used hybrids, consider a vehicle history report from Carfax. 

While eBay does offer a $20,000 vehicle protection program, it only lasts for 35 days.

But it isn't just eBay, there are private sellers and dealers out there using the Internet independent of eBay.

What's the upside?

Buying a Ford Escape hybrid or Toyota Prius online can save you a lot in delivery fees, which account for a significant percentage of most dealer add-on fees.

Roughly 75 percent of eBay vehicle sales cross state lines because of the pricing difference from geographical area to area.
