I don't believe that
the war in Iraq was started just for oil.
Still, many terrorists are angry over the Western
presence in the Middle East because of decades of oil
relationships, and Bin Laden has often made mention of
this fact. Therefore, oil is a piece of the problem in
the Middle East.

Thus, I can understand why
some might choose to support the "No blood for
Oil" campaign, but actions always speak louder than
words.
Nonetheless, there are certain people who should not be
allowed to express such sentiments.

Yesterday, I was driving
down the road and happened to find myself behind some
huge land yacht, a big black SUV. On the bumper sticker
of the gas-guzzler was a "No blood for oil"
bumper sticker.
As I pulled alongside the bigger-than-my-bedroom sized
SUV, I saw a young twenty-something at the wheel.
How dare you, I thought.
No blood for oil? How much damn oil does that truck use?
The reason we need so much oil is to fuel huge wastes of
resources such as his SUV. He's the reason we need more
and more oil. He, and many others like him, are the
consumers fueling the problem. Yet, he was obviously
oblivious to his hypocrisy.
Anybody who drives an SUV, unless it's the Ford
Escape Hybrid SUV, is not entitled to support such a
sticker. If you don't want blood spilt for oil, don't
use so much oil! You are part of the problem!
So, if you believe in the "No blood for oil"
campaign then please make sure you drive a
fuel-efficient automobile, such as a hybrid
car. The Toyota
Prius or the soon-to-be released Honda
Accord Hybrid are excellent options.
And I'll even buy you a new bumper sticker!
