2010 Hybrid Cars
2010 is an interesting year for hybrid vehicles. Several important new hybrid cars will become available in late 2010, although these hybrids will really be 2011 hybrids.
Likewise, several hybrids from 2009 will soon be unavailable. For instance, Saturn is being phased out, so all Saturn hybrids are also being phased out. Additionally, the Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen hybrids are also near the end of their lives.
But, let's not focus on the past, let's focus on 2010 hybrid cars.
You can't really talk about the 2010 hybrids without first mentioning the king of hybrids, the 2010 Toyota Prius. About half of all hybrid sales are Prius sales and 2010 will probably offer the same kinds of sales figures. Additional offerings include the 2010 Toyota Highlander hybrid and the 2010 Toyota Camry hybrid.
Toyota's luxury brand, Lexus, also offers several hybrid choices. The 2010 Lexus RX 450h hybrid replaces the 2009 Lexus RX 400h hybrid this year. Additional offerings include the 2010 Lexus 250 h hybrid, the 2010 Lexus 600h L hybrid, and the 2010 Lexus GS 450h hybrid.
The 2010 Honda Insight is probably the closest thing to a natural Prius competitor, although sales of the Insight are not nearly as robust as the Prius. Additionally, Honda also offers the 2010 Honda Civic hybrid.
Ford is now producing the second best selling hybrid with the 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid, and its very similar cousin, the 2010 Mercury Milan hybrid. Additional offerings include the 2010 Ford Escape hybrid and the 2010 Mercury Mariner hybrid.
While GM's BAS mild hybrids are taking a break in 2010, GM is still offering a number of dual mode hybrids. The 2010 Chevy Silverado hybrid and the 2010 GMC Sierra hybrid remain the only available hybrid trucks sold in America. Additionaly offerings include the 2010 Chevy Tahoe hybrid, the 2010 GMC Yukon hybrid, and the 2010 Cadillac Escalade hybrid.
Completely new in 2010 are some luxury hybrid offerings from BMW and Mercedes Benz.
The 2010 BMW X6 Active hybrid is BMW's first hybrid, although two more BMW hybrids will hit dealerships in 2010.
Mercedes, on the other hand, is offering both the 2010 Mercedes S400 hybrid and the 2010 Mercedes ML450 hybrid.
But the hybrid offerings don't stop there. While not truly 2010 hybrid offerings, 2010 will see the launch of several plug-in hybrid vehicles. Already, the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid is available for special fleet sales. Likewise, both the Fisker Karma and the Chevy Volt will commercially available in 2010, although in very limited quantities.
