“Recycling, rare earth substitutes and efficiency increases can all play a part but they won’t suffice to solve the problem,” Andreas Gontermann, chief economist at ZVEI, the German electrical and electronics industry association recently told the Financial Times. “That’s why it is necessary to have political engagement to ensure unrestricted market access.”
Pretty interesting story regarding ways of recycling and developing alternatives to rare earths, but it seems clear that replacing rare earths won’t be easy, nor will it be quick. Thus, rare earths and rare earth deals will be needed.
Check out the Financial Times for a few companies, such as Lynas Corporation, and what they are working on in the rare earth space.
