Ford Focus Plug-in Electric Car
The Ford Focus EV will be available in limited quantities in California, New York and New Jersey later this year, opening up to more markets later in 2012.
While the Focus plug-in has not yet been rated by the EPA, Ford expects its range to come in at 100 miles. Pricing will be $39,995, almost $5,000 more than the Nissan Leaf.
According to Ford, the Focus electric will save $1200 in maintenance costs after 10 years or 150,000 miles compared to a conventional vehicle.
Nevertheless, while Ford has been tight-lipped regarding key details, one thing appears quite clear when it comes to the Focus electric, Ford's first electric car will be loaded with all of Ford's latest technologies. That means SYNC with MyFordTouch, including a sophisticated navigation system and unique EV content, smartphone applications, MyKey Technology, Sirius Satellite Radio, and a high end Sony audio system.
The Focus electric's styling is sporty and will include 17 inch aluminum wheels. Additionally, the seating is 100 percent post industrial recycled.
With a 240 charger, the Focus electric can charge in 3 - 4 hours, although the Focus electric can also be charged using a standard 120 volt outlet, but charging time will be increased significantly.
More details should be available soon. Check back soon.
