200,000 miles: The Prius is a good bet

Hybrid reliability?

According to a Consumer Reports study, reprinted on Yahoo, the Toyota Prius is a good bet for a vehicle able to survive up to 200,000 miles.

Additionally, the Honda Civic and Toyota Highlander were also cited, but it wasn't clear as to whether that included the hybrid versions.

Still, the king of hybrid cars worth 200,000 miles? That's a lot of potential gas savings.

200,000 should be no problem. We have 135,000 miles on our first-generation 2001 Prius. We'd have more, but we bought a 2005 Prius and relegated the original car to second-car status. The "new" car has 85,000 miles already. so, between the two, we have 220,000 Prius miles. By the way, we have averaged mileage in the low to mid 50's in the summer and mid-40s in the winter with a mostly highway driving pattern.
