The Top Green Power Companies

I was just checking out the EPA's Top 25 Green Power Partners, which is a very interesting list. For example, Wells Fargo is number one on the list using 550,000,000 kWh of green power, equalling 42 percent of their entire electricity usage. The U.S. Air Force was third on the list at 457,500,00 kWh, but that's only 4 percent of their energy usage.

Shouldn't the percent of green energy versus total energy usage also be part of the ratings? 42 percent versus 4 percent seems like quite a big difference.

For example, Whole Foods was number 2 on the list at 463,128,000 kWh, but that was also 100 percent of their total electricity use. I say Whole Foods should be number 1. It's number one for me. In fact there is a Whole Foods opening on the subway line near my house, and I'm going to shop there more often just because of this fact - even though they are expensive. Still, at least you know that your purchase is helping to fund green power!

Other 100 percent green power users included the EPA, Vail Resorts, NYU, the World Bank, and the Tower Companies. I say reward these companies.
