Australia planning largest photovoltaic project in the world

Australia's own Solar Systems will build a 154 megawatt power station using solar cells originally designed to power satellites. When complete the new solar power station will create enough energy to the meet the electricity demand of 45,000 homes. While there are bigger solar power stations in the world, those stations use thermal technology, whereas Australia's project will be purely photovoltaics. "This is a new generation of solar technology," said technical director John Lasich.
