CNN's oil study and American stupidity
"Although Americans don't believe the country faces an imminent energy crisis, most believe there are "major problems" --- from potential oil shortages to possible terrorist attacks -- and they are harshly critical of the leadership on the issue from the White House, according to a new CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll."
I say forget the White House and forget oil companies, Americans should blame automakers and themselves for buying the billions of dollars of propaganda that the big 3 have been selling to America. The right to gas guzzle isn't about American freedom, it's about American stupidity.
And these people laugh at us for buying hybrid cars. (more)

I say forget the automakers too; they're just trying to make a fast buck.
True, there's not a lot of choices out there, but we're the ones buying the SUVs and vans to make solo commutes to work. No one is holding a gun to our heads to prevent us from car-pooling, buying fuel efficient cars, or commuting by bus or bicycle.
True enough.
I guess I can't help but blame automakers a little simply because of the amazing amount of money they spend on advertising.
When Bob Lutz brags that GM could have developed hybrids before Toyota by spending just part of one year's advertising budget on the development, I can't help but be offended.
Still, ultimately, in a consumer nation, consumers rule.
