California wins big ruling on emission's rule

When California set emissions standards that were tougher than the Federal government, the auto industry balked. In these days, when it seems that the only way GM and Ford can make any money is from gas-guzzlers, instead of advanced technology, it's not surprising automakers were afraid. So automakers took legal recourse.

Well, California won one big ruling in that battle. "In a setback for automakers, the National Academies’ National Research Council said California’s role in setting emission standards has been scientifically valid and necessary because of persistent pollution in parts of the nation’s most populous state." (more)

This ruling will have a huge effect on the production levels of hybrid cars and other clean technologies. Oh, yeah, and it will help clean the environment. What a loss for automakers.
