Solar thermal energy the key to solar power?

Solar roof panels are an excellent technology. When the cost of pollution is factored into the expense of solar technology, it's clear that solar technology is for real and worth the costs. Unfortunately, especially in America, upfront costs are all that matters, and on the face of it standard electricity or even wind power and bio-mass appear much cheaper.

Solar thermal energy could help change those up front costs; however. Rather than just collecting solar power via solar panels, solar thermal energy uses the sun to create steam that powers turbines.

Fred Mayes, an alternative energy expert at the U.S. Energy Information Administration, said that solar thermal is pricey compared with wind energy and fuel from biomass. But it does have advantages, he said. Power from the desert sun is more reliable than wind power during the day -- the time of peak prices. And unlike biomass fuels, it emits no greenhouse gases. (MSNBC)

In the long run, the benefits of clean energy simply cannot be over-stated and those benefits justify the investment in solar energy.

Yes it's called solar cogeneration. But is even more effective if used on a home or building.

One concentrates the sunlight to 10 suns, allowing an elevated efficiency for pV cells of 39% in NREL tests. Then the excess heat is sollected by cooling the PV cells with a heat transfer liquid.

That heated liquid then is used for cooking, hot water heating, building heat, and even cooling.

It's a new technology that could make rooftop home solar power up to 60% efficient or more. It would allow a home to be completely solar powered in many regions because heating/cooling loads normally provided by using electricty or fuel, would be providied by solar cogeneration.

BTW, why would anyone waste blog space promoting that idiot inside trader Kramer? Hehey.

I like Cramer. I'd rather take his advice than listen to a stock broker or a financial planner. I never buy any of his picks, but I think he teaches trend analysis and provides a certain "insiders" depth.

The people that just buy what he suggests, are not following Cramer's rules.

As for some of his solar picks, etc., he's been right on. Moreover, he caught many solar stocks before the buzz and suggested caution when others were suggesting buying.

Had investors followed Cramer's advice, you would have done well on those picks.

Whoops I meant Cramer, Kramer on Seinfeld should be heeded.

I've had it with loud mouth stick touts. Their "rules" always let them out of responsibility for the picks that are losers.

I'll check the solar ones though. Does he have any quick charge battery picks yet?

Honestly, I haven't watched the show for at least a month, I just haven't had time. As for the solar picks, the last I heard, Cramer was a little more bearish on the sector.

Sorry.
