Bush keeps promoting alternative energy

President Bush is plugging alternative energy on a two day trip starting today. One stop took Bush to Johnson Controls, Inc., an auto-parts supplier, where he promoted the development of new batteries for hybrid cars, including plug-in hybrid vehicles. Like many auto suppliers, Johnson Controls believes that Lithium-ion batteries will soon power most hybrid vehicles.

Another stop took Bush to United Solar Ovonics Plant where Bush stated, "Roof makers will one day be able to make a solar roof that protects you from the elements and at the same time, powers your house. The vision is this - that technology will become so efficient that you'll become a little power generator in your home, and if you don't use the energy you generate you'll be able to feed it back into the electricity grid."(more)

Tomorrow Bush is scheduled to plug biofuels.

The Stop Global Warming Virtual March is a non-partisan effort to bring all Americans together in one place to prove that global warming is here now... and, it is time for us to do something about it.

One person can change the world. Over 275,000 people have already joined. Imagine what millions of marchers can do! Together we will be heard.
Join the March Now!

It’s easy! There is every reason in the world to become a virtual marcher. Why? Because it affects our public health, our national security, our economy, our planet's future.

On Earth Day 2006, the March will arrive in Washington, DC and use the strength of our numbers to urge 1) Our government to join the rest of the world in addressing global warming, and 2) American business to start a new industrial revolution on clean energy products that reduce our dependence on oil and other global warming pollution.

I especially like your second point.

While I think dealing with global warming is immensely important, it's hard for the average person to take it seriously. Still, the companies that can fight global warming and oil dependence are the companies that will dominate the future.

The 'green revolution' isn't just about the environment, it's about economics.
