Tire problems on the Toyota Prius
While only about 3% of Toyota Prius owners complain of problems with their hybrid cars, there are growing complaints about the vehicle's tires. It seems that Toyota has made a pretty cheap tire standard for the Prius. Thus, heavy-use drivers are quickly running into problems with excessive wear and alignment issues.
This hasn't been a major issue for most Prius drivers, so don't freak out if you are set to buy a Prius and now you are scared about the tires.
Nonetheless, if you have experimented with a good replacement tire, please make a post to this entry.
Additionally, if you have driven your Prius in the snow, how did it handle? I live in Los Angeles, so I'll never have this experience.

I have one statement about the tires on my new '06 Prius with 100 miles on it. I picked up the car and on the way home, I was cruising on I-70 at 55 MPH. A Honda Civic passed me and my Prius moved over about 6 inches from the wind. Next an 18 wheeler passed me and I was blown sideways about a foot. I drove back to the dealer and got the usual BS that I wouild have to take it up with Toyota or Goodyear.
The Goodyear Integrity tires on my new Prius are now history. That tire vmakes the car unsafe on the highway so I drove to my nearbt Tire Dealer and removed 4 tires andf replaced them with the new Eagles. What a difference! The car now steers down the road like it is on rails.
I have one statement to make to Toyota! Your tires you furnish on new Prius's are "PISS POOR" and should be banned fromdelivery on anything greater that a wheel barrow.
Also the HID headlights are very "sreaky" and the dealer effectively said "Tuff Stuff" we didn't make the car!
Nice people those Service Dept Aholes!
