Burt Rutan to NASA's rescue?

Don't get your hopes up!

Anyway, speaking before the House of U.S. Representatives, Burt Rutan told members that NASA should become a Virgin Galactic customer. "The reason they should come to us as a customer is because we can do for them what needs to be done more efficiently than they can do it themselves," he said. (More from Yahoo)

Currently, the U.S. cannot service the International Space Station and the current shuttle program is destined for mothballs in 2010, yet NASA's replacement vehicle isn't set to go live before 2014.

Why not pay Rutan and Galactic? I'd bet NASA could spin some good PR out of it. Keep your fingers crossed.
