Automakers fighting clean air in Canada and US

According to Globeandmail.com automakers, who were supposed to improve vehicle fuel efficiency 25 percent by 2010 as part of a national plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions under the Kyoto Protocol, are now balking.

Apparently, automakers are refusing to comply with the Kyoto agreement in Canada because of their impending lawsuit in California regarding similar reductions.

Automakers still maintain they cannot meet such requirements without exorbitant costs. Of course, the fact that hybrid cars already comply with such requirements is making that argument harder and harder to believe.
