Hybrid car rip off? $60 billion in rebates for non-hybrids.
"Automakers will spend a record $60 billion on rebates this year, reflecting a proliferation of consumer incentives that are now available on 90 percent of all new vehicles, up from less than 10 percent a decade ago, according to a new study." (Read Detroit News Article)
According to the study, almost every new car is discounted by $4000.00, except for couple of vehicles including all hybrids. Ironically, these same car companies charge less than this amount to add hybrid technology to vehicles such as the Toyota Prius or Ford Escape hybrid.
Why couldn't this discount be moved to hybrids from standard autos? Hybrid vehicles would fly off the lot. But this won't happen. Instead, automakers will continue massively discounting cars that create oil wars, fuel terrorism, and cause massive pollution across the planet.
How pathetic.
