Small Solar Implementation equal to planting 30 acres of trees

GenSelf announced via press release today that it had completed the installation of 113 KW solar carport.

Built for the Edwards Mansion, the "grid-tied system" should provide approximately 80% of the electricity needed for the property, and reduce electrical bills from $40,000 a year to around $16,000.

The system consists of 612 Sharp Electronics 185 watt panels, which were mounted to a carport built specifically to hold the panels. The carport's solar roof also provides shade for the banquet facility parking lot.

Aside from being very cost effective - after tax incentives and government rebates - the solar roofs significantly decrease the amount of pollution that enters the air. This particular project promises to eliminate more than 200,000 pounds of CO2 per year!

According to the release, "this single solar installation has the positive environmental impact equivalent to the planting of 30 acres of trees."

So why doesn't every business do this?
