Honda Accord Hybrid Ready to hit showrooms in 1 month.
In just one more month, the hybrid car race will start to get interesting. Starting December 3, Honda Accord Hybrids will begin hitting dealerships throughout the U.S.
While Honda offers both the Insight and Civic Hybrid, the Accord hybrid should provide an interesting choice for hybrid consumers.
Obviously, current Accord drivers, or simply Honda fans, will be prospects for the Honda Accord hybrid. And for those buyers, the Accord Hybrid should be an inspiration.
Already, Honda has announced that it's Accord hybrid should hit 0-60 almost 1 second faster than the standard Accord. Additionally, the Honda Accord hybrid will provide more torque than the standard Accord. More importantly, however, the Accord hybrid will reduce fuel consumption by about 43 percent. That should translate into about 30 mpg in the city, and 37 mpg on the highway.
That last fact makes the Accord hybrid an interesting option compared to Toyota's popular Prius hybrid. The Prius actually achieves its best fuel-efficiency in the city, or more precisely, during traffic. Whereas, the Honda Accord hybrid achieves it's best fuel-efficiency on the highway.
Consequently, this fact might reduce the competitiveness of the two hybrid sedans. In fact, one might almost argue that Ford's Escape Hybrid SUV is more of a competitor to the Prius than the Accord hybrid. Like the Prius hybrid, the Escape hybrid also achieves its best fuel-efficiency during traffic as well.
Nonetheless, Honda's Accord Hybrid will be a nice addition to the hybrid car fleet available to Americans.
